Information on Fishing at Lake Texoma

FAQs

How do I know when you’re available to fish?
Please call or email to book your trip or get information about open dates. If I’m not open I can either book you with another qualified guide or provide to you my recommendations and references for one.

What is minimum number of people you’ll take fishing? The maximum?
You’ll need at least one person to make it a trip (so 1 is the minimum), but I can accomodate up to 6 people on a trip. With 5 we’ll fish with artificial bait, with 6 we’ll fish with live bait.

What kind of boat do you have?
I fish on a 23 foot Falcon with a front end console, a 250 yamaha 4-stroke engine, and you’ll be enjoying the trip in highback captain chairs with arm rests.

What are the fishing hours? when do we start? When do we end?
We fish for up to 6 hours. We usually begin around daylight (which varies depending on season), but is flexible considering customer’s needs and weather conditions.

What is the fishing limit?
Each person is allowed 10 stripers, including a maximum of 2 fish that are over 20 inches.

How much is a fishing license and where can I get one?
A Texoma fishing license is required and the cost is $12. The license is good from January the 1st until the next January 1st. The license can be purchased at any location in Texas that sells licenses: many customers find Walmart or Academy Sports convenient locations. They are also sold at locations near the lake like the Mobil station, the Tackle Box, and Tanglewood resort.

How do I get the fish we catch? Do you just give them to me whole or do you clean/fillet them for me?
All fish are filleted and put in plastic bags unless you specify something different. A separate ice chest is recommended for you fillets

Are your rates negotiable?
Due to operating costs the prices are firm.

Do you offer gift certificates? If so, how do I purchase them?
Gift certificates can be purchased via phone or email. They are valid for one year from the date of purchase. After purchasing, I will mail you the certificate in a card with information, to give or send to the recipient.

Where should I stay (overnight) when I come to fish?
There are a lot of great lodging options near our fishing site. Some cabins include:

Little Mineral Marina: 903-786-2332 ($75-$125/night)
Lighthouse Marina: 903-786-2250 ($95 – $350/night)
Tanglewood Resort: 903-786-2968 (call for rates)

There are a handful of motels located at the intersection of I-75 and fM 120, within 10 miles of the lake. Find them on Google here »

Do you recommend some restaurants in the area?
My favorite restaurant hands down is Huck’s Catfish at 2811 South Trail Drive. But I guess you wouldn’t be in too bad a shape if you also went to:

Napoli’s Italian, 13015 S.H. 289, Pottsboro, TX 75020

De Happy Cajun, 5005 N FM 120, Pottsboro, TX 75020
